“You know, Br’er Fox,” Inspector Alleyn began, “it’s amazing how many criminals seem to think they’re unique, and that no-one has come up with their particular idea in the history of crime.”

“It’s as well for us though, sir,” Fox replied.  “It saves us a lot of time when we have to solve the crime.”  He laughed.  “And it’s often the simplest things which trip them up.”

Alleyn nodded.  “Let’s hope that’s the case this time.  I must admit this one currently has me perplexed.”

“It will,” Fox sounded confident.  “It’s early days yet.  They’ve made a mistake, I’m sure.”
