“You have a visitor, Sir Henry,” the hotel porter said.  “Shall I ask her to wait?”

Sir Henry Clithering looked up and saw Miss Marple standing by the reception desk, talking with the receptionist.  He smiled.  “No, please ask her to come and join us.”

Inspector Slack turned and his heart sank; proof, had he needed it, the case was not going to be as simple as he had hoped.

Miss Marple came over and sat down.  “Sir Henry, so good of you to see me,” she said.  “And Inspector Slack, how delightful to see you too.”

Slack smiled weakly.
