A tiger rose from the pool, wisps of steam rising off vivid fur. Nie Mingjue watched as the mythic-sized feline stalked from cerulean waters, shaking off water. Rainbows formed between sheets of water and sunlight. For a moment the tiger was haloed with wings of diamonds, mist, and color. Nie Mingjue had never seen anything so beautiful.

Then the moment was gone. Now fluffy, the storm-eyed tiger approached on silent, velvet paws; flopped on the rain-scrubbed stone. A giant head rested in his lap. Nie Mingjue scratched behind huge, soft ears. The beast began to purr contentedly.
