The demon listened eagerly, excitement growing at each thunk. Someone was undoing the locks that kept the demon sealed behind the door.
A human was on the other side of that door. It must be so. No race had quite the same knack for stupidity; no other had such a lack of talent for minding their own business. They had an itch to know just the things they shouldn't.
As the demon listened, it planned the reward that its benefactor would receive. A knowledge of the mistake that he or she had made, just before being ripped to tiny shreds.
