Notes: Dorothy can barely stand it.
Dorothy groans. Her hand shoots out, but she cannot strike her mother. Instead she brings her hand back to herself and bites down hard on her fist. Sorrow and anger warring within her, Dorothy flees the room in a fit of tearful rage.
it is so difficult to see her mother this way. The woman who raised her was a strong, intelligent woman, but the roles have reversed. These days she has the intellect of a young child, at best.
Dorothy's still trembling when the girls arrive. In silence, they embrace her, and they hold her through the emotional storm.
