Though this was not a walloping lie, Casey tried to avoid eye-contact. His mother usually could read him like an open book. And he wasn't ready to talk about what had happened. Not yet.

When the band had played his favorite song, Zeke had suddenly pulled him into his arms and kissed him. Kissed... him! Casey knew he should feel shocked but instead of this, he felt the urge to jubilate full of delight.
