He shook his head, amused by my disbelief. "Hardly."

"You actually encountered a civilization that didn't believe in time," I asked. "How..." Flummoxed, I took a breath to gather myself. "How did they explain seasons, and aging, and things like that?"

"They didn't," the Doctor replied. "Or, rather, they just dismissed it as the whims of their gods. And, once they got wind of the fact that my TARDIS is a time machine..."

I leaned in, curious. "What happened?"

"They nearly assassinated me. I'm banned from their world as a heretic!"
