“What was it the witness said, the woman was wearing a navy blue coat with a matching wide brimmed hat?” Poirot said.  “Yet if the hat had a wide brim it would have kept the sun off her face and he could not have seen precisely who she was.  He assumed it was Miss Asher, because she came out of her house, but she could have been someone who resembled her.”

“Flora Duggan,” Japp exclaimed.  “The two of them do look quite similar, certainly from a distance.”

“Exactement.  So our witness may not be as reliable as we had thought.”
