“Oh, Jane,” sighed Dolly Bantry wearily. She turned the newspaper towards her friend and pointed at an article.
“Yes. Most unfortunate, but not unexpected.”
“A rally at the Women’s Institute is called for! We must do something about these so-called leaders who persist in making decisions reflective of their idiocy.”
“And cruelty,” added Miss Marple under her breath as she selected the best of the scones and passed it on a plate to her friend. Her gaze travelled to the headlines. “Is there, possibly, any good news?”
“Oh, look, Jane, a juicy murder in Market Basing!”
Miss Marple hummed hopefully.
