The inspector grunted and continued to look unhappy.

“What you have said is true.  This so-called criminal mastermind is currently at his zenith and apparently unassailable.  But there is only one way for him to go, and that is down.  As he starts his descent, he will find that small mistakes are made, and others start to challenge him.  At that point we will be able to intercept him.”

“You sound remarkably confident.”

“Mais oui.  He has already made the first little mistake, and soon there will be more.”
