I stood in the opening to his box, looking at the place where he had laid only hours ago. The tears still streaming down my face, feeling too tired to wipe them away I just let them. I couldn’t believe this, any of this. Yesterday when I had left the stable he was fine, munching on his hay in his normal, calm matter. This morning I arrived to him lying on his side, trying to roll but too exhausted. There was nothing we could do. Now he’s gone, and all that’s left is an empty box, only filled with memories.
