Going out to get the mail, Mike cringed at the sight of Babbitt approaching.
"Good afternoon, Nesmith," Babbitt greeted. "Nice weather we've been having."
"If you don't mind livin' in a furnace," Mike muttered. "Somethin' on your mind?"
"Now that you mention it," Babbitt replied, in a tone that was just casual enough to make Mike nervous, "I've been toying with the idea of raising the rent. Say, another fifty dollars a month. How's that grab you?"
"Mind if I stake you in the heart?"
Babbitt glared through narrowed eyes. "But I'm not a vampire."
"Could've fooled me," Mike snarked.
