He'd had to combine the fire and ice powers of his penguin and lion to even damage the thing. That in itself had felt wrong. The pitch-dark rift it had opened, like a miniscule black hole, had screeched and crackled with barely contained clashing energies as it tore a hole in the monstrous heart.

The heart hadn't tried to defend itself. He didn't even know if it could. All it had done was speak to him, tell him he should not be there, which was true. Time itself was distorted.

He hoped it would be worth it in the end.
