Hercule Poirot: A House of Cards

Title: A House of Cards
Fandom: Hercule Poirot
Rating: G

“What do you make of Philipps?” Inspector Japp asked.  “He sounds so plausible and yet I’m sure he’s implicated in some way.”

“Oh yes,” Poirot replied.  “Philipps is, as the good Hastings would say, up to his neck in it.”

“How do we prove it?”

“We let him talk and present his oh so reasonable arguments.”

“What good will that do?”

“You will have noticed that every time his explanation becomes a little more complicated.  We let him get to the point when the argument can no longer be sustained, and then, pfft, it collapses like a house of cards.”

That was a true Poirot moment.
