“He’s not a robot!” John’s face was flushed, his stare red-hot. “He’s just doing your job better than you are, so show some respect!”

The snickering ceased. The SOCOs looked alternately cowed and sullen.

John drew a breath to expand upon his theme, but he heard his name and abandoned the task in favour of reaching the waiting cab.

The return journey to Baker Street was conducted in silence until Sherlock said,

“I was a robot, once. Hallowe’en party. Kids shoved sweets in my mouth, and I spouted facts. It wasn’t bad until I was sick. Thank you, for, that.”
