“And where are you going with your prize, my dear Watson?”
“It shan’t be my prize much longer,” exclaimed Watson with glee.
Watson and I briefly gave attention to the dusty stuffed crocodile under his arm. It had hung over the font in the church of St. Bertrand for many years, and Watson had won it in raffle when that holy establishment closed its door for the last time.
“It is to be part of the haunted house and auctioned off at the end of the harvest festival.”
“The prize that keeps on winning.”
Watson snapped his jaws and grinned.
