He should have stayed away. In his absence, lost love had found transformation. Strength had been crafted from the shapeless, malleable clay of disappointment and mutual failures.
Charles is kintsukuroi. The jagged edges of a broken vessel, pieced back together, its cracks mended with pure gold. He shines, even through his flaws. Perhaps because of them. It is devastating to hear first hand that he is unaware of his worth, doesn't notice the courage and ambition that have been used to make him whole again.
