Miss Marple had spent a very relaxing few days as the guest of Sir Henry Clithering in his beautiful house.  She had had a lovely time reminiscing with him about their previous meetings, and it had been delightful that his godson Dermot Craddock had been able to join them for dinner one evening.  Of course, there had been the minor issue of the poison pen letters, fortunately stopped before the writer found themselves completely out of their depth, but that only added to the enjoyment of the visit.  It was exactly what Miss Marple felt made the perfect break away.
