Fort Ferrier is burning. Lucy struck down two or three men with her wings, but they went outside after they killed Ferrier. Beyond the bounds of her dominion.

The air is thick with smoke and the smell of burning. Lucy can feel the flames tug at her. She will not Fall; she refuses to.

Part of the roof collapses in a bright shower of sparks. As her dominion goes, she is losing her name, she is losing herself—

Joining the Consensus would mean forgetting Jefferson. Better to be nothing.

The smoke dissolves into the air, and Lucy goes with it.
