Maria moved faster than she'd ever had in her life, but was still too late: all she caught was the ancient pager slipping from his fingers. She looked up barely in time -- it felt like her body vaulted itself over the hood of the SHIELD SUV and rolled to safety just as another car crashed where she'd been standing moments earlier.

She stared at the flashing tricoloured emblem on the screen, baffled. "Who the hell are you?" The design stirred a memory deep in the back of her mind. She knew Nick had known she'd remember who this was.
