Twinkling, multi-colored lights lined the upper walls and outlined the fireplace with military precision. Tinsel garlands of green, silver, and purple festooned nearly every surface. The house smelled like burning birch and cinnamon.
Nie Mingjue froze, more lights dangling from his hands, by the big picture window currently being pelted by snow and sleet.
Nie Huaisang appeared with a tray holding three festive mugs that matched his frilly green apron and elf hat.
