The officer didn’t need anyone to point out the house; the shouting was loud enough that he could hear it a street away. He knocked authoritatively at the door.

At once there was chaos, as five or six different people tried to explain the situation simultaneously. Well. The drunken soldier seemed most at fault, and arresting him would remove the problem.

The drunken soldier beckoned him over and—pulled out the Order of the Grandees of Spain? The officer had a sudden sinking feeling that he was in over his head, even before the soldier whispered, “I am Count Almaviva.”
