"But what made you suspect Lady Godalming wasn’t all she claimed to be?” Inspector Craddock asked. “After all her baggage was a matching set.”

“Yes, but you see a lady such as she claimed to be, wouldn’t have such an obviously new set,” Miss Marple replied. “Her bags would have been good quality, of course, but they’d have looked a little used. Quite likely they’d have been new when she married and then she wouldn’t need to replace them for many years. Someone who had a recently purchased set simply wouldn’t be the regular traveller she wanted everyone to believe.”
