Summary: What Fingolfin's host left behind in Araman.
The Noldor were not heavily laden when they left their homes. But when they reached the end of the land and felt the bitter cold from the Grinding Ice, many things which had seemed sensible and needful to bring no longer seemed worth carrying.
Along the coast of Araman, once-cherished belongings were left scattered like sea-wrack. King Olwë forbade his people to take or use the abandoned things, on pain of exile.
Jewels and bright silver were thieved away by the crows; nests and burrows were lined with fine-woven cloth and shreds of parchment. The wind whispered, gone away eastward.
