"'Astings what is this that is trying to escape from my refrigerator?” Hercule Poirot demanded, closing the refrigerator door with an expression of disgust.

“It’s a cheese,” Captain Hastings replied.  “I thought you’d enjoy it.  I’ve been letting it mature.”

“There is cheese that has matured, and there is an offence to the olfactory nerves.  This is the offence and will be sharing its unpleasant perfume with all the other ingredients within the refrigerator.  Kindly dispose of it with immediate effect.”

“If you insist, Poirot.”

“And please ensure it is taken outside and is not put into my kitchen bin.”
