"How did it go?” Sherlock Holmes asked Dr Watson when he returned to 221B.

“I think we found out most of what you were after,” Watson replied.  “There was, however, a minor problem towards the end.”  He removed the Ferret from his coat pocket.

The Ferret bowed to Holmes and would have slid off the table if Watson hadn’t caught him.

“Is he all right?” Holmes asked.

“Just a trifle,” the Ferret giggled, “woozy, that’s all.”

“He decided to eat the remains of the dessert,” Watson explained.

“Sherry trifle?” Holmes queried.

“And apple pie, but the trifle was the problem.”
