The thick-fingered brute reached out, as if to lay a finger on his prisoner. Instead he was flung to the floor as all around the cultivators, the stones of the underground prison began to quake. Men screamed and reversed their path, clamoring up the stairs that had brought them down to Jiang Cheng.
They all ignored the leader's orders, too busy shouting and shoving among themselves. More than one fell from the stairwell to land on the unforgiving ground. Their leader could only bellow after them.
Jiang Cheng curled into a ball in the corner of the room and waited.
