It was, Nurse Phyllis Crane knew, a sorry situation.  The houses around them were already being knocked down, and who knew how long the utilities would stay connected.  The house had to be the subject of a compulsory purchase order, even though no mention had been made of it.  And Ruth Gelin had days left to live.  Nevertheless, Phyllis was determined to make things as easy for the Gelins as possible, even if that meant confronting Sergeant Woolf again.  The old ways had had their time, the Sixties were marching on, and yet simple human decency could never become outdated.

Though I don't know this series, your story is very touching.

Thank you. Call The Midwife is classic British Sunday evening viewing (and Christmas Day). There's a feel good factor, but at the same time it doesn't ignore the realities and unpleasantness of life. And it's about women dealing with life.
