Title: Rage
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Rating: Gen
Notes: Genderswapped Sherlock & John. Mrs. Hudson watches Sherlock going into a rage at noting the arrival of her archnemsis in 221B.
“Oh, God, no!”
Mrs. Hudson started at Sherlock’s violent exclamation, looking about for attackers, corpses, or anything else unusual, but she could see nothing out of the ordinary—even for them. No dismembered body parts. No horrid chemical odors. The flat looked as untidy and cluttered as ever.
“I’m just returning John’s electric carving knife,” said Mrs. Hudson in a tone that was unnecessarily apologetic and confessional.
“Not you!” groaned Sherlock. “Look!”
Mrs. Hudson looked at the pile of books on the table beside John’s armchair. A serenely smiling comely Japanese lady smiled back from the topmost cover.
“Is that what has you in a rage?” asked Mrs. Hudson.
“Of course! My archnemesis!”
“I thought that was…”
“No, Moriarty is my adversary.”
“Oh, but there’s also…”
“Mycroft’s just a pest. No, this is my true archnemesis. Worthy foe. Cunning. Clever. She wiles her way into John’s affections once a year and wreaks havoc with our domestic order.”
“Such that it is,” muttered Mrs. Hudson sotto voce, noting all the places that could do with a good hoovering—never mind a solid dusting! Then her attention turned back to the book. “Is that…?”
“Don’t say her name!”
Mrs. Hudson laughed. “Marie Kondo?”
“ARGH! Once a year, John gets it in her head that the flat needs to be tidied. Does this spark joy? Does this spark joy? Needless to say, everything is chaos, and many valuable items go missing. And it’s one continuous blazing row.”
“Is that John she gave me that cow creamer last autumn?”
“Yes! No joy there.”
“Says you. I sold it on eBay. Made a packet.”
“Congratulations.” Sherlock looked at her watch. “There’s time to take the book back to the library and book a holiday abroad.”
“Is that a bit…?”
“Desperate times, desperate measures, Mrs. Hudson.”
