Souji woke and coughed gently, clearing his lungs as carefully as he could. Beside him, Neidhart stirred but didn't seem to wake.
Good, Souji thought as he settled again. His fingers wound through loose blond waves that appeared nearly white in the dark room. Moonlight streamed in through the window, but it would rain. That, Souji could tell, and not just from Neidhart's hair.
He closed his eyes, content. He-
Neidhart reached to make sure the blankets were covering them both and then found Souji's hand with his own.
Souji squeezed gently; he was okay.
Neidhart didn't let go anwyay.
