The werewolf hobbled along, every so often limping on three paws.  When Adam told him to give him the injured paw, he drew it towards himself protectively and whined. 

Adam ignored the protest, took hold of the paw, and swiftly removed the thorn which was stuck in it.  “See, you wimp, that was totally painless; you didn’t even notice it coming out.”

The werewolf looked at his paw, stood up and trotted off down the path, wagging his tail as if nothing had happened.

“And don’t go making out to Jo that you were seriously injured!” Adam called after him.
