"I'll never understand these humans," Kiko mewed, sniffing at a prickly green limb. "They take all this weird stuff out, dig up all sorts of funny smells that make them sneeze--"
"Us, too," Mushmush put in, his paw batting gingerly at a shiny ball dangling nearby.
"Yep. Then they suddenly yell, 'Merry...something or other', one day."
"Oh, yeah! That's when they take all these things under this...tree, they call it, don't they? And tear them all apart, and ooh and ahh over the stuff in them. Then we get cool boxes to play in." Mushmush let out a purr, remembering. "That's the best part!"
"And then they go and put it all away again, and it's forever and ever before they do it all over again. I don't get it!" Kiko took a hesitant nibble at a bit of ribbon on one of the things the humans called a present. She pulled away, shaking her head, the bell on her collar tingling. "Ew. That wasn't yummy."
Letting an amused squeak escape him, Mushmush pounced on his sister. "Silly! That's why the humans keep telling us not to eat it!"
"But I can't help it! It's all so pretty!"
