"Hey," Monica shouted, wielding a rather ferocious whisk.
Joey let out a startled yelp, fumbling with the present that he'd been vigorously shaking. "Oh, God, Mon! You scared the hell outta me!"
She stomped over to him, plucking the gift out of his hands, and carefully nestling it back under her Christmas tree. "That was the intention," she grumbled. "That one happens to be fragile."
He leaned down, picking up a sign that rested in front of the tree. It was the standard Keep Off The Grass sign that one would expect to find in some public space. The word grass, however, had been crossed out with a thick Sharpie; nearby, Monica had scribbled presents, instead. In an effort to keep it festive, Mylar tinsel garland had been meticulously attached to its edges.
"Uh, Monica, what's this about," he asked, flinching when it was unceremoniously snatched away. "Ow!"
"Sorry. Everybody always wants to know what I'm giving them ahead of schedule," Monica explained. "So I put this up, in the hopes that everyone would leave their presents alone until it's actually time to open them."
"How's it worked, so far," Joey asked. "On everyone else," he amended.
"Could be better."
