Chandler had harbored no illusions regarding how pleasant commuting back and forth between New York and Oklahoma would be. He's hated his job, from the start. But the paycheck always seemed to make things at least somewhat worth his while.
It was part of being a functioning adult: Take an unpleasant job, suck it up, and earn your keep.
What he wasn't expecting was the pernicious potential of such a situation. A long distance marriage could be hard to maintain, with temptation so close.
Screw it. Nothing, not even a steady job, is worth blowing what he has with Monica.
