Arabella held out a plate. “Cake?”
Augustine took a moment to admire the slice.
Arabella put the plate on the table in front of him. “I promise it’s not poisoned.” She sat down in the empty seat beside him. “Mrs. Rogan made it. It’s totally safe.”
He eyed her with suspicion. “Why aren’t you having any?”
“Because I already had two pieces.”
He took a bite. Chocolate with a hint of raspberry. Exquisite. Perhaps, a bit fancy for a one year old’s birthday party but then he’d expect nothing less from Connor Rogan. Particularly when it came to his son.
