"Mister Babbitt, why did you call in a noise complaint against us last night," Davy asked. "We weren't even making any noise; we were sound asleep when the cops arrived."
The landlord smirked mildly. "Tell me, Jones: What was yesterday's date?"
Davy frowned. "Yesterday's date? It was the first of April. What has that got to do with..." Then, enlightenment dawned in his eyes. "Oh. I think I'm beginning to see."
"Yes; it was April Fool's Day, yesterday," Babbitt confirmed. "And, if you think you boys are the only ones who can play practical jokes, you've got another think coming!"
