“Poirot seems convinced that the squiggles he has drawn will help him retrace Hamilton’s route,” Hastings said to Miss Lemon, “but it’s nothing like any map I’ve seen.  I even offered to go and buy him a street plan of the town, but he said it wasn’t necessary.”

Hercule Poirot set off across the town, every so often consulting the piece of paper on which were his ‘squiggles’.  It took them by a rather winding route to the sea front, next to a beach hut.  “I think we will find,” he said, “what we are looking for inside that hut.”
