“Dawn? You still up?” asked Buffy, peering inside her sister’s half-closed door.
“It’s summer, I don’t have school. Come in, look what I found.”
Buffy eyed the map spread out on the bed and her heart clenched.
“Remember?” asked Dawn. “The summer road trip we planned with mom after her surgery; you know, before you both died. Complete with her weird playlist for the drive.”
Buffy picked it up, wiping her tears. “I remember.”
“We should go. You and I, for mom.”
“Dawnie, I… don’t drive.”
“I’ll be sixteen soon. We’re going, I’ll drive. So don’t you dare die again.”
