“Why are you limping?” Stokely asks Zeke when they are getting out of the gym.

“I flew over the lockers.”

“I fell at the swimming pool,” she says. “I can still taste blood.”

“I haven’t fallen,” Casey adds, because it’s true.

Zeke chuckles. “Does this trauma reveal means we’re friends now?”

Stokely and Casey exchange a look, a silent conversation between them. “You wanna hang out with the nerds ?” She asks.

“If you don’t get into the football team,” Casey warns.

Now both of them turn to Casey, questioning.

“What?” He shrugs. “I’ve seen you run. You’re good at it.”
