Poirot reached out to straighten a picture that was hanging at an angle and then withdrew his hand as if he had been stung. "Oh no, my friend," he murmured, "you are aware of my obsession and would have me concentrate on this picture, but you are seeking to distract me from something else. Now what is it you wish me to overlook?" He walked over to the window and then added, "Ah, I have it. This window pane has been recently chipped and so there was a second bullet after all. You do not fool Hercule Poirot that easily."
