Title: Bereft
Fandom: Miss Marple - Agatha Christie
Rating: Gen
Notes: Miss Marple & Dolly Bantry talk about the events of Ordeal by Innocence [SPOILER for that work]
“Do you think being bereft of children does odd things to someone, Jane? I mean, Miss Lindstrom went right off her head, murdered her employer then kept silent while the boy she loved (and raised) was convicted of her crime and died in prison. Then there’s Rachel Argyle, the murdered woman, adopting those children, collecting them, really, but, somehow failing them.”
“I suppose it can,” said Miss Marple. “Whenever a strong desire is thwarted…. But there is a difference between being alone and being lonely.”
“You’ll be happy to get back to your cottage, won’t you?”
“Yes,” sighed Miss Marple.
