Dwen had no problem meeting Lady Denarisa's gaze; he had little interest in the display she made of herself though he did quietly envy her apparent stamina.
"I believe we've had this discussion," he said flatly.
"I don't want to keep you," Denarisa replied, smiling. "I simply want to borrow you for both your strength and your steadfast disinterest."
"You don't need my permission. Vermont will make that decision."
He'd been hired out for stranger jobs, after all, and Denarisa's coins were always welcome.
"I'd rather you were willing."
Dwen said nothing. If Vermont wanted him to be, he would.
