Anticipating wonderful things, Rachel bit into the piece of peanut brittle that Monica had offered for her to test. Something crunched in an unfamiliar manner.

"Well," Monica asked, on tenterhooks. "How is it?"

Rachel tried to will herself to swallow, but her stomach rebelled. "That's a...new texture," she finally replied.

Monica's face fell. "What's that supposed to mean? Is it not good? I wanted to give this out for the holidays."

"It's...crunchier than usual."

"What?" Turning, Monica peered at the pan of brittle. "Oh, crap; there are pieces of peanut shell. I thought I shelled them more thoroughly!"
