There had been ice and snow overnight, the same as the last few nights, blanketing everything in what should have been stark white.
Felix slipped out of the cabin at sunrise to get another armload of wood for the hearth within. He'd needed to get away for a few days, and away he'd gotten, except...
The pinks and oranges of the morning painted the landscape in color and Felix lingered, almost smiling.
"Felix? You out there? Oh..."
Sylvain had been warmer than the fire.
And he was more than enough to hold off the chill as the sun kept rising.
