Holmes closed his eyes as the overture began and leaned back to enjoy the music to the full. When he had entered the concert hall, his mind had been full of the current case, but for the next two hours he would set that to one side and devote all his attention to the music. It must be said that I too closed my eyes partway through the overture, but that was due to lack of sleep, and with a peaceful first half to the concert I remained in the arms of Morpheus until Holmes woke me at the interval.
