Title: The Stars and the Clay
Author: Zdenka
Fandom: Der Golem wie er in die Welt kam (1920)
Rating: T
Characters: Rabbi Loew
Challenge: Amnesty / #058 - beginning
Warnings: antisemitism
Notes: Rabbi Loew is known in Jewish folklore as the creator of the golem. The Golem (Der Golem wie er in die Welt kam / The Golem: How it came into the world) is a silent film made in 1920.
Summary: Rabbi Loew learns that danger is threatening his people.

It is beginning again. Rabbi Loew is old, and he has seen enough to know that the old hatred towards his people never truly goes away. For many years, he has studied the deeper truths of God’s creation found in kabbalah; at times the Holy One, blessed be He, grants him glimpses of fate. And so he knows that a great calamity is threatening his people.

Peaceful wisdom and learning are not enough; the Jews of the Prague ghetto will need a strong protector. Rabbi Loew descends to the hidden chamber beneath his house, and digs his hands into clay.
