Titanium against rock, pipes shuddering under pressure. Screwdrivers chipping shavings off from worn, now soft screws of impossible age - just another mechanical injury to be fixed. Jin sighed, looking at his patchwork repairs; it was a long road to the next base.
“You’re still working?”
An exhausted Socks stood in the doorway, rubbing his eyes. All the colors of the rainbow that shouldn’t have been there - yellows, reds, purples - dotted his now sallow skin.
“Socks.” Jin murmured; then, realizing, straightened, enunciated a reprimand. “You need repairs just as badly as this machine. Rest up; I can’t do anything for you.”
