Standing at Joyce’s grave, Buffy sighed.
“What do you want, Spike?”
He emerged from behind a crypt nearby. “Just waiting for you to be done. Didn’t want to bother you.”
“Then stop following me around.”
“I wasn’t,” he said, showing the flowers in his hand. “I’m here to pay my respects to Joyce. First anniversary and all.”
Buffy blinked, taken aback. “Oh. I—I thought you forgot.”
“Joyce was always kind to me,” he said, shrugging. “I’ll, uh… come back later, then.”
Buffy stepped aside. “You can stay, it’s fine.”
He set the flowers down and stood with her in silence.
