Greek Myth - Measure of a Man
Aug. 11th, 2025 10:38 amTitle: Measure of a Man
Fandom: Greek Myth
Characters/Ship: Penelope(/Odyssseus)
Rating: G
Warning: mentioned character death
The finished shroud is Penelope’s best work, but the measure of a man cannot be made by solely a piece of cloth, perhaps least of all Odysseus. The shroud is woven with images that tell the story of his life: the boar, their marriage, baby Telemachus, sailing for war, the Trojan Horse, the trials of his journey home, and the joyful reunion.
Her fingers linger on the final pair of images. A boy holding a spear, a stingray for the poison at its tip. The second son Odysseus hadn’t known, the tragic misunderstanding. The unexpected end to an extraordinary life.
