His goddess wife is far from the first woman Peleus has bedded, not the first to struggle – but it's never been like this. When she stops transforming and goes still, she's like a dead thing. Cold, clammy, still damp from the sea. But there is life in her eyes. Hate like he's never seen, burning deep and endless. He knows even then he will never bank it.
When the act is finished, he dresses again, and still she doesn't move. Only her lips to say, icy and fierce, “You may have claimed my body, but you will never own me.”
